Art Museum & Hotel

Conceived for the Young Architects Competitions in 2017, the Favignana Hotel reimagines an abandoned prison complex as a panoramic hospitality and cultural destination embedded within the landscape. The former prison becomes an art museum at the heart of the project, while the new hotel unfolds across the hillside around it. A historic stone pathway is preserved and cuts through the intervention, connecting public terraces, the main restaurant, meeting spaces, and communal areas. Conceived as spaces carved directly from the mountain, the rooms reference Favignana’s stone quarry heritage, each featuring a private panoramic pool overlooking the Mediterranean landscape.

Location: Favignana, Italy

Size: 2000 sqm
