House in Magoito
The House in Magoito is conceived as a light and sober dwelling embedded in a coastal landscape north of Cascais, where pine trees, sea breeze, and proximity to the Atlantic define the atmosphere of the site. The project translates the idea of a barn into an abstract contemporary home, reduced to essential geometries and clear spatial divisions. The house is organised into two distinct zones: a communal sunset area for kitchen and living, and a private sunrise wing containing bedrooms and workspaces, each oriented to capture different moments of light. A pitched roof defines the silhouette, optimising both solar exposure and interior volume, while a veranda becomes the main source of light and a mediator between inside and landscape. Material choices are restrained and tactile, reinforcing a calm, domestic atmosphere shaped by simplicity, proportion, and natural light. The result is a quiet coastal retreat that balances clarity, comfort, and spatial openness.
